Single Parents Beware

Don’t Leave The Door Open

There are over 200 classified forms of mental illness. Some common disorders are clinical depression, bipolar disorder, dementia, schizophrenia and anxiety. Symptoms may include changes in mood, personality, personal habits and/or social withdrawal. Single parents are at a higher risk than traditional families with both parents living in the home.

In no way, shape, or form is this article demonizing young males. LIFEstyle Resource Magazine is shedding light on a growing problem in ghetto communities across America and the world. Young males are also victims of abuse and lack guidance for leadership. However, this article is about young women because they bear the burden of motherhood, a target for human trafficking and prostitution. Many youth across America suffer low self-esteem and often are the victims of suicide, drug use, and alcoholism.

Racial Inequality & The Black Ghetto by Alexander Polikoff NORTHWESTERN JOURNAL OF LAW AND SOCIAL POLICY.

Paid programming from media outlets perpetuates false narratives to young, influential minds. (article on leadership). Young adults from fatherless homes need leadership, self-esteem, personal development, and edification. Family bonds are weak or broken because of fatherless homes or protective leadership. Therefore, young women and men seek emotional bonds outside the home (Cinderella Syndrome). Neighborhood crimes affect communities as young men seek validation from gangs and drug dealers to prove themselves. However, growing up in a fatherless home doesn’t mean you can’t learn the skills to develop healthy partnerships as an adult.

Isolating A Problem

Have you ever heard of the word grooming? This is a rhetorical question. Of course, you’ve heard of grooming. It’s used in the cosmetics, fashion, health & beauty industries. There’s another type of grooming used by pedophiles, gangs, human traffickers, and drug dealers. Are you aware most dysfunctional homes are single-parenting women who are HOH or head of household? Criminals target single-parent homes such as these, making parenting arduous. Criminals and abusers seek youths from broken homes, abandoned, with daddy issues, with emotional trauma, or love-starved. It may also be a dysfunctional family member who is a criminal or abuser. e.g. cousin, uncle, aunt… Beware!

Young girls seeking validation are prime targets for criminals and abusers. Young ladies who lack self-confidence are subject to empty promises. Abusers promise teens a lifestyle of luxury unwitnessed in poor environments or at home. Having young men say how special or pretty they are is commonplace for an emotionally starved and scarred teen. Bribery with gifts, money, and other trinkets is used to lure youth into a false sense of security, especially if it’s unaffordable by the single parent. Drugs are used to confuse judgment, and weariness to lower teens’ defenses. Drugs, peer pressure, and abusers convince young teens their parents is old-fashioned in moral teachings, or their single parent is jealous of this dysfunctional union.

There are resources in place that educate single parents. Some single parents do not attend PTA meetings in ghetto areas after a hard day of work. Often, it’s dangerous to walk in neighborhood streets after hours. Parents spending 2 or more hours in mass transit, having to cook, clean, do yard work if any, assist kids with homework, funds limited, the parent’s stress is at an all-time high. The average minimum wage job doesn’t pay for decent housing, healthcare, childcare, utilities, clothing, food, etc. Free appropriate public education (FAPE) for 12 years isn’t enough for disabled youth. Keeping young people occupied with sports, music, and other activities works, but isn’t enough. Although these goal-setting tasks are helpful, getting to the core of a person’s mental health and emotional well-being requires more than what’s taught in schools.

“There’s a group of guys who cling together. Their parents have given them everything in life except one thing, discipline. Now they spend their time taking advantage of good-natured people by bullying them. They think that’s the equivalent of being a man”. ~ Robert Duvall | Secondhand Lions

How to spot deception

Deceitful people always want spiritual things unearned which devalue you, for easy manipulation and control. e.g. mind, body, and soul. They are narcissistic. They want blood, so guard your reputation well.

What to do if the abuser is a close family member.

“Deception is the birthplace of all pain. The first clue to dishonor is to request something unearned. What you refuse to learn from other people, you learn from pain. Dishonor is a choice, a character decision”. pg. 38 ~ Mike Murdock 7 Laws You Must Honor to Have Uncommon Success.
