Individuality
Life is one big narrative. Narratives come from the experiences of others, and some narratives are uniquely ours. There are emotions attached to each one. Everyone’s story is unique, whether you grasp life’s opportunities or sit on the side of the road without a nickel to your name.
Identical twins have unique fingerprints and their individual story. Siblings can grow up in the same home, attend the same schools and still have individual experiences. Every breath taken, and every move made, we’re narrating the next episode. No matter what, human beings will write their very own unique life story.
No one can be the poster child for your story. Our choices make us the narrator, editor, author, and the actor. In the grand scheme of things, all the money in the world backing an elaborate Hollywood premier, amazing characters, and a global stage, with accolades, couldn’t minimize your life story. You are unique.
Today’s success is tomorrow’s old news
Your great grandchildren will have difficulty with commonality because the socially acceptable people seen today are tomorrow’s old news. For this reason, we consider life a gift and not a guarantee. You never realize this until you discover someone like Earl Nightingale.
Earl Nightingale said, “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal”.
Earl Nightingale never mentioned money or fame. In fact, he said they were temporary and easily replaced, but we can never replace the things we received for free. e.g. friendships, family, minds, bodies…
Therefore, a man enjoying his work can become a success with very little. e.g. A man who hand crafts surfboards for a living. Of course, there are companies who mass produce surfboards on assembly lines with factory workers. However, personal success comes from the creativity and inner peace. It derives from things that bring us the most joy. The things that we would easily do for free. Everyone should strive to do this but inadvertently find themselves, compared to others, depressed and working in that factory’s assembly line.
